What is The Emotion Codex?
The Emotion Codex is a framework for understanding emotions as intelligent forces that help us navigate life, relationships, change, creation and our inner world.
Rather than approaching emotions as problems to manage or symptoms to eliminate, the Codex teaches you to understand their function, their message and the way they participate in human perception and creation.
Is The Emotion Codex therapy?
No. The Emotion Codex and the Emotion Mastery Program are educational and developmental programs. They are not a substitute for psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medical treatment, or other professional healthcare.
EMP offers an in-depth exploration of your emotional and inner world. This can be deeply personal and may touch areas in which you still struggle, but the program approaches these through learning, awareness, self-inquiry and personal development rather than treatment.
Do I need previous experience with personal development?
No previous training or education is required to enter the Emotion Mastery Program.
At the same time, many people who feel drawn to EMP have already spent years exploring themselves. They may have read extensively, followed programs, received coaching or therapy, or developed a strong awareness of their own patterns — yet still feel that something has not fully come together.
EMP can offer a different layer of understanding: not another method for managing yourself, but a framework that helps you understand what your emotions are actually communicating and how your inner world works as a whole.
What matters most is curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore yourself honestly.
Is EMP only for people who struggle with their emotions?
No — but you certainly don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Some participants come because they are still struggling with recurring emotions, patterns, relationships or questions in their lives. Others already experience considerable awareness and stability, but sense that there are deeper layers they want to understand.
EMP takes you on a thorough journey through your inner world, including the places that may still feel unresolved, misaligned or difficult to understand.
Many participants have already done significant inner work. The Codex does not ask you to start over. It offers a different perspective from which previous insights, remaining struggles and new discoveries can begin to come together into a more coherent understanding of yourself and your relationship with life.
Can I use or share Emotion Codex teachings and materials?
The Emotion Codex teachings, models, texts, videos, course materials and other original content are protected by intellectual property rights. They are provided for your personal use and may not be copied, reproduced, published, distributed, taught or used as part of your own training, course or educational program without prior written permission from The Emotion Codex B.V.
The teachings of The Emotion Codex remain within The Emotion Codex and are not licensed for external teaching.
What is the Emotion Mastery Program?
The Emotion Mastery Program (EMP) is an intensive one-year journey into emotional mastery.
You learn to understand emotions from the inside out and develop a much more precise relationship with your inner world.
The program combines online teachings, exercises and reflection with live guidance, community and shared learning.
What does the program include?
The program consists of nine online courses: a foundational course followed by eight courses exploring the different emotion groups.
Together, they contain more than 300 video lessons and exercises.

Do I receive access to all courses immediately?
Yes. The complete digital educational program is made available to you when you begin the program.
This allows you to explore the material in a way that supports your individual learning process while following the overall journey of the program.
Is the program live or self-paced?
Both.
The educational material is available online and can be studied at your own pace. Alongside the courses, there are live Guidance Calls and community gatherings throughout the year.
The program is designed as a one-year journey rather than a course that needs to be rushed through.
How much time should I spend on the program?
This differs from person to person.
Some periods may involve more studying and exercises, while at other times the most valuable part of the process may simply be living with and integrating what you have discovered.
We encourage consistency rather than speed.
In which language is the program taught?
The main program is taught in English. The online lessons include multilingual subtitle options.
Most live calls are held in English, with one Dutch-language call available each week.
Student meetups may also be available in your own language.
How often are the live Guidance Calls?
There are multiple opportunities each week to join live Guidance Calls with Vera.
You don’t need to attend every call. They are there so you can receive guidance when questions arise and deepen your understanding through the experiences and questions of other students.
What happens during a Guidance Call?
Guidance Calls are an opportunity to bring questions that arise while working with the teachings or applying them to your life.
Rather than conventional coaching or advice, the focus is on helping you see more clearly what is happening in your inner world and how the principles of the Codex relate to your experience.
Do I have to speak during live calls?
No. You are very welcome to join and simply listen. Learning through other people’s questions and experiences can be an important part of the program.
If you do want to ask a question, you can submit it in writing — even anonymously — or raise your hand to be invited into a live conversation.
What are the Student Meetups?
Student Meetyos are spaces for students to meet each other as fellow travellers rather than in a teacher-student setting.
We practise receiving each other without fixing, coaching or giving advice.
Participants are invited to share an Insight, a Struggle and a Longing.
The purpose is connection, recognition and belonging.
Is there a community?
Yes. EMP includes access to our online student community.
The community is an important part of the journey because emotional mastery is not something we explore only individually. We also learn through relationships, reflection and shared experience.
When can I start?
Because the educational program is online, you don’t have to wait for a traditional classroom cohort.
After your application has been accepted and your enrollment and payment have been completed, you will receive access to the learning environment and information about how to get started.
Do I need to attend Inside the Codex before applying?
No. You can apply directly.

How do I enroll?
Enrollment begins with an application.
The application helps us understand why you would like to join and whether the program is appropriate for you.
Submitting an application does not enroll you in the program and does not create a payment obligation.
Once your application has been accepted, you will receive the information needed to complete your enrollment.
Is there an admission interview?
Not normally.
If something in your application suggests that a conversation would be helpful before deciding whether the program is suitable for you, we may invite you for a conversation.
Can my application be declined?
Yes.
We want the program to provide an appropriate environment for both the individual student and the wider learning community.
If we believe another form of support or a different moment would be more appropriate, we may recommend postponing participation.
How long do I have access to the program?
Standard access to the Emotion Mastery Program is 12 months from the start of your enrollment.
What happens when my 12-month access ends?
Before your access expires, we will inform you about any continuation options that may be available at that time.
What if I need more time?
We understand that life doesn’t always follow a schedule.
Depending on the circumstances and the continuation options available at that time, it may be possible to extend your access.
Do I receive a certificate?
No. The Emotion Mastery Program is focused on personal development and integration rather than certification. A confirmation of completion can be provided upon request if needed.
Is there an exam?
No. EMP does not include a traditional exam or final test.
Throughout the program, you will complete Progress Reviews to reflect on your development and become more aware of what has already shifted and what may still need attention.
You may also encounter reflective exercises and questions designed to challenge familiar assumptions and invite new ways of looking at yourself, emotions and life.
None of these are about memorising information or passing a test. They are part of the learning process — helping you deepen your understanding, recognise your own patterns and gradually open the mind to new ways of seeing.
What happens after I complete the EMP?
Completing EMP can simply mark the end of your educational journey — taking what you have learned and integrated with you into your life.
For those who feel drawn to continue, completion of EMP also makes you eligible to explore participation in the Emotion Codex Fellowship: a growing community where we continue to learn, connect and explore how greater inner awareness can be lived together in practice.
Fellowship participation is a separate next step and does not automatically follow from completing EMP.
What is the EMP PRO?
EMP PRO combines the complete Emotion Mastery Program with professional training in the Emotion Codex Coaching Method.
It is designed for people who want not only to understand and embody the Codex themselves, but also learn how to work with its principles professionally.
Who is EMP PRO for?
EMP PRO may be suitable for coaches, therapists, educators, healthcare professionals, facilitators, leaders and other people-centred professionals and people lovers.
What is included in EMP PRO?
EMP PRO includes everything in the Emotion Mastery Program, plus:
Do I need to already be a coach or therapist?
Not necessarily.
Your background, experience and professional intentions are considered as part of your application.
I’m already a coach or therapist. Should I choose EMP or EMP PRO?
If your primary interest is your own understanding and development, EMP may be sufficient.
If you also want to learn how to work professionally with the Emotion Codex Coaching Method, EMP PRO is the appropriate pathway.
Can I teach or use The Emotion Codex in my own professional work?
The teachings of The Emotion Codex may not be taught, reproduced or offered as a training, course or educational program outside The Emotion Codex. Participation in EMP or EMP PRO does not grant teaching rights or permission to reproduce our educational materials, models or teachings.
Certified Emotion Codex professionals may apply the Emotion Codex Coaching Method within their own professional practice, in accordance with the applicable certification and usage conditions. This permission relates specifically to the application of the coaching method and does not include the right to teach The Emotion Codex itself.
Can I receive a scholarship for the EMP PRO?
No. Scholarship support currently applies to the Emotion Mastery Program only.
What does the Emotion Mastery Program cost?
The investment for the Emotion Mastery Program is €4,500.

What does EMP PRO cost?
The investment for EMP PRO is €6,750.

Can I pay in monthly payments?
Yes. You can choose an available payment plan when completing your enrollment.
Is a payment plan a monthly subscription?
No.
A payment plan allows you to pay the agreed total program fee over a number of monthly payments. It is not a monthly membership or subscription that can simply be cancelled from month to month.
Where can I see my payments?
You can view your current payment status, transaction history and payment-plan details at any time under Billing in your account.
What happens if a payment fails?
If an invoice cannot be paid, additional collection attempts may be made.
If an invoice remains unpaid after multiple collection attempts and payment has not been received within 14 days, access to the course materials may be temporarily suspended until the outstanding payment has been received.
Suspension of access does not automatically terminate your enrollment or outstanding payment obligations.
Do I have a cooling-off period?
Yes. When enrolling online as a consumer, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period, subject to the applicable conditions regarding the start of digital educational services during this period.

Can I stop participating before the end of the program?
Yes. You are free to stop participating whenever you choose.
However, stopping your participation does not in itself terminate your enrollment agreement or automatically end your payment obligations.

Can I terminate my enrollment before the end of the 12 months?
Yes. After the cooling-off period, you may request early termination of your enrollment.
Because part of the educational program is made available at the beginning and other services are provided throughout the year, an amount may remain payable after early termination.
How is the amount due after early termination calculated?
For EMP, 50% of the program fee relates to the complete digital educational program and materials made available upon enrollment.
The remaining 50% relates to the ongoing services provided throughout the 12-month program period, including live Guidance Calls, community access and Student Gatherings.
In the event of early termination, the amount due is therefore calculated as 50% of the program fee plus a pro-rata amount of the remaining 50%, based on the period during which you have had access to the ongoing services.

Will I receive a refund if I terminate early?
That depends on the amount you have already paid and the amount due according to the calculation described in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
If you have paid more than the amount due, the difference will be refunded. If you have paid less, the remaining amount will still be payable.
Does terminating my enrollment automatically stop my payment plan?
No.
Your payment plan represents payment of the agreed program fee rather than a monthly subscription.
If your enrollment is formally terminated, any remaining payment obligation will be adjusted according to our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes.
We believe financial circumstances should not automatically exclude someone who feels genuinely called to undertake this work.
For that reason, scholarship support is available for the Emotion Mastery Program.
Who can apply for a scholarship?
Scholarships are intended for applicants who genuinely want to participate but cannot reasonably afford the full program fee.
You can indicate that you would like to request scholarship support during your application.
How much scholarship support can I receive?
Scholarship amounts vary according to the available scholarship funds and the circumstances of applicants.
Receiving a scholarship normally means that part of your tuition is supported while you contribute the remaining amount yourself.
When are scholarships awarded?
Scholarship applications are reviewed periodically rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.
Allocations are normally made quarterly so that available funds can be distributed fairly among applicants.
This means you may need to wait before receiving a final decision.
Does applying for a scholarship guarantee financial support?
No.
Scholarship funding is limited, and we cannot guarantee that every request can be granted.
Can I receive a scholarship for EMP PRO?
No. Scholarship support currently applies to EMP only.
Can I participate if I am currently receiving psychological or psychiatric treatment?
Possibly, but we would like to know about this before enrollment.
EMP can involve profound self-exploration, but it is an educational program and does not replace professional mental healthcare.
If you are currently in an intensive therapeutic process or receiving treatment from a psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist or another healthcare professional, we may invite you for a conversation before accepting your application.
Can EMP be combined with therapy?
In many cases, yes.
However, when someone is going through an intensive therapeutic process, it may sometimes be more appropriate to postpone EMP. Where necessary, we consider this individually.
What if I experience difficulties during the program?
Questions relating to your learning process can be brought to the Guidance Calls.
If something requires therapeutic, psychiatric or medical support rather than educational guidance, we will encourage you to seek appropriate professional care.
What is the Emotion Codex Fellowship?
The Fellowship is the community that grows beyond the educational journey.
It is a place where people who have travelled through the Emotion Mastery Program can continue exploring how greater emotional awareness and conscious living can influence not only the individual, but also relationships, community and eventually the systems we create together.
We see the Fellowship as a living research space for life and society.
Is the Fellowship another course?
No.
EMP is the educational and transformational pathway.
The Fellowship is about living and experimenting together with what we have learned.
Who can join the Fellowship?
The Fellowship is intended for people who have completed the Emotion Mastery Program.
Why do I need to complete EMP first?
Because the Fellowship is built on shared foundations.
Before experimenting together with new ways of relating, organising and creating community, we want people to share a foundational understanding of emotions, perception, responsibility and inner awareness.
EMP creates this common language.
I’m mainly interested in the Fellowship. Do I still need to complete EMP?
Yes.
The Fellowship is not a separate open community. The Emotion Mastery Program provides the shared foundation from which Fellowship participation becomes possible.
Does the Fellowship cost money?
The intention is for the Fellowship itself not to operate as a conventional paid membership.
Instead, Fellowship is based on reciprocity. Members may contribute through time, skills, service, donations, or other forms of participation.
At the same time, sustaining a growing community requires resources. Members will therefore be invited to make a voluntary financial contribution according to their means. This is a contribution to sustaining and developing the Fellowship, rather than a membership fee or condition for belonging.

Is the Fellowship religious?
The Fellowship has a spiritual and philosophical dimension, but it is not about requiring members to adopt a particular doctrine or belief system.
Its foundation is lived experience, consciousness, emotional awareness, relationship and our shared exploration of what it means to live well together.
Is the Fellowship a political movement?
No.
The Fellowship is not organised around a political ideology or political party.
Rather than trying to change society primarily by fighting existing systems, we are interested in researching and gradually creating new ways of living, relating and organising from different foundational principles.
Will there be local Fellowships?
That is part of the longer-term vision.
The intention is for Fellowship to eventually take root in local communities and different countries while remaining connected through shared foundational principles.
What is Inside the Codex?
Inside the Codex is our free introductory gathering.

Do I need to join EMP after attending?

Inside the Codex is an invitation to explore. There is no obligation to enroll afterwards.

Do I need special software?
You need a stable internet connection and a device that allows you to watch the lessons and participate in online gatherings.

Can I participate from another country?
Yes. The Emotion Codex is an international online program.
Please keep in mind that live gatherings take place at scheduled times and time-zone differences may apply.
Can I share my account with someone else?
No. Your enrollment and access to the learning environment are personal and may not be shared with another person.
Can I book a private consultation with Vera Helleman?
Vera currently focuses on teaching, developing The Emotion Codex and guiding students within the programs. Individual consultations are therefore not generally available.
Students can bring questions related to their learning process to the live Guidance Calls within the Emotion Mastery Program.
